This week consisted of a progressive dinner in the park. It was a 4 course dinner and we signed up for the salad portion. 48 couples signed up to participate and it was a great way to meet new people in the park. Some were even close neighbors that we had never met.
The first lot we went to were a couple that we did not know and they chose the appetizer portion. Unfortunately for us they served salami and bacon appetizers. Needless to say, we did not eat there.
The next location for us was at our lot for the salad. Besides the people serving there were 3 other couples at each stop. (a total of 4 couples per location.) At our lot we met 2 new nice couples and also had a nice couple we already knew in the park. After salad at our place it was on to the next place for dinner. Our dinner was at someones place that we are friendly with in the park but there were 2 other nice couples that we met over there.
After our great dinner we went over to the Yacht Club where everyone participating finally met up and had desserts. It was an usual and unexpected cold and windy evening and we all wore ski jackets as we rode around in our golf carts.
Thank goodness the weather was better this morning as 10 of us from the park drove over in 2 cars to do a hike at the Art Smith Trail. We walked for about 2 hours and did just over 3 miles then almost everyone went to lunch except for 3 of us. I had to get back to Aussie who was alone because Gary is in a Pickleball League today and is away from the park.
Tonight we are off to Pickle and Pizza, an evening pickleball challenge followed by pizza at one of the nearby resorts in the area..
Last week Larry and Elaine left but the day before they did, Elaine and I walked 5 miles to Olde Town La Quinta. On the way we walked under some Date Palm trees and I could not believe the amount of dates that had fallen on the ground from the trees. I picked some up but was not brave enough to take a bite thinking there may be ants inside.
A beautiful sunset a few nights ago.
