A girls outing last week at the Tumalo Lavender farm. Located just 15 minutes from downtown Bend, Oregon, Tumalo Lavender is a 10 acre farm. In June 2005, Tumalo Lavender’s 10 acres had its first 1,000 test plants prepared and planted. The following year the owners planted over 6,000 lavender plants showcasing 23 varieties of lavender. All the lavender varieties were chosen for their beauty, climate hardiness, oil, scent and color. At present, they have over 10,000 plants.
Lavender has a reputation for being notoriously non-palatable to deer. It is also considered a drought-tolerant plant and is easy to grow and manage.
Since we have many lavender plants around our house I attempted to make a lavender sachet. After drying out some more lavender on the stems, I plan to make a few more.
