This weekend, Gary’s first Pickleball tournament was in Redmond at Sam Johnson Park and Gary and his partner Brenda took it all the way to the top. They were the Champions coming in first in the 3.5 mixed doubles. Congrats!
Then one day later, in Aurora Oregon he came in third in men’s doubles with his partner.
Today, I went on a beautiful 6 mile hike at the Metolius River with Karen B, Karen F and Shayla past Camp Sherman near Sisters Oregon..
About this Hike: The Metolius, most magical of all Oregon rivers, emerges fully grown at 50,000 gallons a minute from the arid base of Black Butte. You sample the river’s wizardry with this hike along a section of the oasis-like riverbank. The trail passes sudden springs, reveals colorful bird life and leads to a wonderful fish hatchery.

It looks like the smoke is coming back to the area and there were ashes from the fires on our driveway this morning. The widespread haze was caused by smoke from wildfires across the region. An Air Quality Alert has been issued until noon on Thursday for Central Oregon and much of our surrounding area. Here we go again. 😯
Someone in the area posted this picture online today. Luckily we did not see this near our hike today.
Tonight when walking Aussie the sun was a bright orange due to all the smoke. Here is an actual picture I took this evening. Notice all the haze around the sun.
In the meantime, we have Josh from Newell in Oklahoma staying here so he can do some repairs on our coach. Let’s hope that all goes well because tomorrow morning he is back on the plane headed home. In three more weeks we will be on the road again in the motorhome headed to Montana so we need it running smoothly, unless of course the smoke continues, then we will be out of here in a hurry.
Congratulations to Gary! Have a great time and hope you stay smoke free. 💕
