We left Indio just in time. The temperature was over 100 and the Coachella music festival located a mile away was about to start and we were informed that the street to our new location would be closed and we would need a pass to get through. Not that we were familiar with any of the performers anyways.
Coachella is known for its fashion trends, and heavy-star lineup — but also for exclusivity. Attendance is not cheap, with the lowest tier of general admission priced at $449, plus other fees.
First we headed to Bakersfield for a few days at a very nice small park, River Run.
Then, we headed for Vacaville California which is about an hour north-east from San Francisco. We were able to drive into the city & visit with our younger son visiting from Finland as well as the rest of the family. Not only were we were able to see everyone there but also Beulah our older sons dog who unfortunately had to unexpectedly be put to sleep a few days later. It was so great to have seen her sweet face one last time.
Some great walks at Pena Adobe Park near the Vineyard RV Park in Vacaville.
I couldn’t resist taking this picture of a bunch of dogs playing on the picnic table in the park.

After leaving Vacaville, our next stop was the Expo Center in Napa. There is nothing prettier than Napa and Sonoma.
Scenes of grape vines everywhere in Napa.
A wonderful lunch with some old dear friends, Ron & Susan at Mustards Grill in Napa.
While staying in Napa at the Expo center, they were busy setting up for another big concert, this time Bottlerock. Some big name entertainers will be performing here the end of May.
BottleRock Napa Valley is a 3-day music, wine, food and brew festival in Napa, California May 27-29, 2022. 5 Music Stages, Culinary Stage and more!
Interesting buildings at the Expo center. Inside there was a Home and Garden Show the weekend we were there. In fact this display made us feel right at home.
We tried to get into the tour for Rombauer Winery while in Napa but it seems they were over booked that week. Rombauer Chardonnay is one of our favorites. It really is one of the best, so perhaps we will get a chance to stop there on our next visit.
From Napa we went to Red Bluff and stopped at the KOA Journey for a few days.
Aussie enjoyed the view from the coach.
And so did we…
A few scenes along the road on our way home back to Oregon.
From 100 degree days in the California desert
To 30 degree mornings in the Oregon desert
It’s just a matter of time before we are complaining that its too hot here too.
