There are so many activities available to stay active in Stowe. Our friends call Stowe “The Fountain of Youth” and it shows.
We bike, hike, walk, play tennis and pickleball with friends of all ages and many close to 90 years old.
Yesterday, we did a hike at the Cross Country center with some friends at The Adams Camp trail and we passed 2 ladies hiking with 6 young children. At the end of our 4 mile hike we saw the ladies with only 5 of the children and they told us, the 7 year old boy got separated and was lost in the woods. That was quite a scare since some other friends had later told us that they had seen a bear in the woods that morning. Luckily the boy was found quickly by calling out his name and all ended well.
Then there was a nice walk at the Stowe Quiet Path, where people are allowed to walk their dogs off leash on this beautiful path. My friend’s 11 pound dog loves to jump in the water there and retrieve this chew toy that weighs almost half her weight.
The Quiet Path is a low-impact extension of the Stowe Rec Path for walkers and joggers only. No bikers, skateboards or roller bladers allowed. The natural surface path intersects portions of the Mayo Farm property and meanders along the West Branch of Little River. Panoramic views make for a relaxing 1.8 mile tour.
Then on to the pickleball courts at the Town Recreation Center. The town allows people to play pickleball on their tennis courts Monday and Friday mornings. The game is so addictive and a lot of fun.
