It was a long drive along the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in Louisiana. The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is the longest bridge in the United States.
We stopped for the night at a brand new RV park in Baton Rouge, Louisiana that just opened this month.
It is across the street from the L’Auberge Casino & Hotel,
A nice park with 6 brand new pickleball courts but this place was a little too far off the highway so I don’t think we will stay here again. They do not have everything complete yet and require you to wear a wrist band when walking in the park which of course we did not do. This place still needs a lot more work such as the burnt up grass as seen next to the courts below.
The next stop was at Katy Lake RV Resort in Katy, Texas just slightly west of Houston. This was a nice stop.
Katy Lake RV Resort is situated on 18 acres surrounding a 6 acre lake.
A lot of full timers here but no school age children are permitted as long term residents so it was pretty quiet.
This park had nice long paved lots and many had covers over the top of their RV. There is a nice paved walkway around the catch and release pond. When you check into the park they give you 2 bags of fish food to feed the fish in the pond, that is if the birds & ducks don’t get it first.
The next stop in Texas was Buckhorn Lake RV Resort in Kerrville, just west of San Antonio, Texas, This is a really nice upscale park. We had been here once before for a rally a few years ago.
It had been 3 weeks since we had been on the courts and this resort had 6 nice pickleball courts. We were fortunate enough to meet some really nice people to play with there.
The upper portion of the park has luxury homes where you must have a class A motorhome to park next to your house. A few of the homes seen below. Only owners are allowed in this area but with no one to stop us we decided to take a walk through it.
We parked in this lower section of the park on a long paved lot. This RV park is really nice and we look forward to visiting there again sometime.
Ft Stockton RV park in Ft Stockton was our last park in Texas. You can drive many miles for days in Texas and see basically nothing.
There is nothing around here and really nothing exciting at this park but they do have a small diner that serves food that we would never eat, like fried chicken.
The landscape at this park shows that we are getting closer to the desert.
Today we drove through El Paso and have now exited the state of Texas. The next few days will be spent in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Such a great trip! Love reading and seeing the photos 💕
