We left Indio California and have been on the road in the motorhome since May 17th. Our first stop was in Goodyear Arizona to see some very dear friends for a few days and to play pickleball in the dreadful heat.
From there we went to Camp Verde, Arizona and stayed at the Verde Ranch Resort. We met some nice people that we played pickleball with but unfortunately one of the players pulled his Achilles in the middle of the game and had to go to the hospital and get a cast on his leg.
Some of the unique cabins at the Camp Verde park seen below .
From there we went to Albuquerque NM, and stayed at the Route 66 Casino RV Resort.
While there, we stopped at the Menzano Mesa Park where they have 33 courts and we watched a cash prize pickleball tournament for a few hours. All the games had a ref and there was some good level of play to watch.
The next stop was in Amarillo Texas at the Big Texan RV Resort. It was a decent place to stay but we parked next to a family with 3 little boys that were not being watched and the boys threw rocks at our coach which chipped the paint off. Needless to say we were not happy. Gary confronted the mother who said “Sorry” and then the family quickly got in their car and drove away with their trailer.
We are currently in Oklahoma at the Newell facility for repairs this week and there have been multiple tornado warnings here. In fact there was a tornado in Arkansas an hour from here in the wee hours this morning.
If we get a tornado in this area, here is where we were told to go. We should go down the stairs under this bus. How will all the people here fit under his bus? This whole parking lot is completely full with people.
We have a few more stops to make after we leave Oklahoma. There are some good friends we would like to see along the way, weather permitting. The first stop will be in the Ozarks and then on to Iowa.
We have sold the Oregon home and bought a new house in Idaho. We hope to make it to Idaho by June 17th. We will stay in an RV Park for a while when we get there since we have allowed the previous owners of our new house to take their time packing up. When they leave we plan to do some renovations.
Our new house as seen below. There is a lake behind the house but the water level is low due to the lack of snow this past winter,
Aussie is enjoying the road trip and is doing great since her second knee surgery. She no longer needs to be pulled in the wagon as seen here several weeks ago..
Honoring all those who have served!
