We left the Newell location in Miami, Oklahoma and went to Regatta on Grand Lake in Grove, Ok for a few days. Although the resort has a beautiful lake, the place is bug infested. Needless to say, swarms of bugs came inside our coach. We will not stay there again.
Lots of fishermen on Grand Lake where we stayed. We were told there was a big tournament with a cash prize.
We had an alternator problem so we went back to Newell for a few days. They replaced the alternator and we were able to get most of the bugs out of the coach.
From Oklahoma we headed to the Ozarks in Missouri to see our friends Bob & Susie. We stayed at Laurie RV Park & Storage a small no frills park with limited spots. It worked out fine for a few days.
Susie & Bob were kind enough to take us, along with Aussie, out on their pontoon boat for the day, however after being out on the lake for over an hour the boat died in the middle of the lake. They had to call a boat tow service and we sat floating in the middle of the lake going up and down for over an hour before the tow arrived. Then it took another hour to tow us back to our friends marina. Poor Aussie ran for the closest bush when we arrived on land.
Next we went to Des Moines, Iowa to see our good friends Dick and Deb for a few days. It was also great to see their 3 dogs Remy, Tillie and Bodie. There is a gun range behind the RV park where we stayed (Timberline) and because of the loud gun shot noise Aussie was so paranoid that she did not want to come out of the coach. Another RV park where we won’t stay again.
Next stop was PALS Brewery, a Harvest Host stop in North Platte, Nebraska. Members of Harvest Hosts get unlimited overnight stays at farms, wineries, breweries, and more with no camping fees. Pals has a cute little bar/restaurant next to the RV spots where you can dry camp (no hook ups for water or electricity) and they are dog friendly. Lots of dogs in the restaurant watching their owners eating pizza.
An okay stay but quite dusty.
From there we went to Cheyenne, Wyoming to see friends Derek and Tracy and park on their driveway for a few days. Lucky for us that they have a driveway big enough with hook ups (water & electric) for several motor coaches.
While in Cheyenne we went to Lions Park to play pickleball and brought Aussie with us back to the exact place where she tore her ACL in September. Aussie watching the pickleball players.
Several employees of the Cheyenne fire department taking their lunch break on the pickleball courts today. See the fire truck parked outside the gate. Everyone seems to be playing these days.
Next stop will be Sheriden, Wyoming and then on to Bozeman, Montana before we reach Idaho.
Thanks for the update on your trip! Wow! What travels you do! I’m glad you got to see some friends along the way. …too bad about the bugs and dust! Have a good trip back to your new home in Idaho. Stay safe on the road!
