After our visit to Moab, Utah we headed to St George, Utah for 5 days. The park was not the greatest but the pickleball courts a short distance away were very nice. We also had a nice visit at the Utah home of Joe and Amy who also have a place at our park in Indio.
We left Utah and headed to Verde Ranch resort in Camp Verde in Arizona. On the way there we went through a snowstorm in Flagstaff. Not a fun drive.
But most of the trip was more scenic with mountains like this.
After several days in Camp Verde near Sedona, we headed to Mesa, Arizona where we had a nice visit with (almost) 96 year old mom at the nursing home nearby in Scottsdale.
In Mesa we stayed in a nice new RV park called Monte Vista and since it was early season the park was nice and quiet.
Sister Terri stopped by for a quick visit and it was nice to finally see her after several years.
We also had a really nice meal out one night and enjoyed our sushi.
From Mesa Arizona we had a 5 day stop in Surprise, Arizona. It was nice to spend time with brother Sam there who stopped by for a quick visit.
Also known for their golf course, the park where we stayed in Surprise called PEM (Pueblo El Mirage) has 18 pickleball courts. We enjoyed playing pickleball there and meeting many new people. We enjoyed it so much that we will be back there in January. There are mostly park models in the park but several gravel sites are also available for motor homes to stay on.
The picture below is one of the park models and the typical landscaping within the park.
We are now in Carlsbad, California.
During our recent shopping trip to Costco we observed another fancy motorhome owner. Looks like he is staying in the parking lot and growing trees on his roof.
Last year we made a donation for a brick to be placed at the Bataquitos Lagoon and yesterday we finally saw the finished product on the ground at the Lagoon. Even Aussie was impressed.
Whenever we walk by these pretty plants around here it stinks of onions. Perhaps these could be scallions? These plants are everywhere! Does anyone know what these are?
We have another week here in Carlsbad before returning in December and who could ask for a prettier place.
Next week we will head to the desert in time for a Halloween party. I hope to post pictures of all the costumes including ours. There will be prizes for the top 3 costumes but unfortunately our costumes will not be daring enough to win anything.
What a great update of your long & winding road travels. Gary’s Mom looks terrific, especially at her age – & very happy to have Aussie on her lap for real! You have memorable sunsets & canyons & pickle ball games!
I remember the views of the lagoon in Carlsbad – such a lovely spot. And nice to see the stone that you had made a donation for.
Continue to enjoy your adventures – sounds quite relaxing & enjoyable. hugs & love from us, here in Montreal, with chilly winds today…(but still getting some amazing biking in…maybe we will get one more ride!)
