A few days ago we arrived in Polson Montana at the Polson Motorcoach Resort. Some friends of ours were kind enough to allow us to stay on their lot for a few days.
Polson Motorcoach Resort is a class A resort but behind it is a KOA owned by the same people, This morning when walking Aussie, I saw a different way of camping that I had never seen. A couple put their camping tent on the top of their car and had a ladder to get in. See below.
We have seen several familiar faces while at this park. Including a few people from MCC.
Polson, Mt is known for their many cherry trees. According to Flathead Lake Cherry Growers, the first cherry trees planted in Montana were in 1866 by a man named Thomas W. Harris. They were planted in the Bitterroot Valley, which is located about 170 miles from here in Kalispell which is in the Flathead Valley.
It was discovered that the Flathead Lake Region has a favorable climate for growing cherries. The lake helps to moderate temperatures keeping the east shore of Flathead Lake warmer and more conducive to growing cherries.
We tried to find an orchard that allows you to pick your own cherries but it looks like most will not open until we have left the area although when we drive by we can see the cherries on the trees. Don’t know where you found them but thanks for giving us some of your fresh picked cherries Shelly & Craig.
Tomorrow we head to McCall, Idaho for a few days.
