SanLan RV and Golf Resort in Lakeland, Fl, is an old run down park. Even though they have a 5 star rating and boast having 785 acres this is the WORST park that we have stayed in so far on this trip.
Here is the “Premium Plus” lot where they wanted us to park our coach.
It is very strange but most of the park models in here are extremely old RVs with an addition added on. I have never seen anything like this before. It’s like something out of the Twilight Zone.
The whole time we were here the pickleball courts looked like this. Hello maintenance, is anyone awake yet???
Note to self: Do not stay here again.
The good part of our stay in Lakeland was a nice visit with Gary’s older sister and her husband who now live in Sarasota. They came over for the day and it was so great to see them before they head off to visit friends in Thailand.
The next stop was 5 nights at Millennium Luxury Motorcoach in Sanford, Fl (near Orlando).
Millennium is a Prevost coach convertor. They take Prevost buses and convert them into luxury RV’s. We used to own one a few years ago but as Gary says, we have gone to the dark side and now own a competitors coach. Even though we no longer own one of his coaches the owner of Millennium was kind enough to let us stay here and park at his facility this week while we had some work done on the bus.
Unfortunately for us there is a new sports bar right next door that just opened in August and they play live music every night until 2am. The bar also has a swimming pool in the middle of the building. I wonder how many patrons have become drunk and fell into the pool? Anyhow, Sunday night we were up until 2am in the coach listening to live music on a loud speaker.
Note to self: Do not stay near this bar again. 😠
A nice evening with Orlando friends below and their adorable teenage daughters.
A good friend below. True story…..About 20 years ago he came to our home in Sanford to do some audio work. He left his work bag open with one of his favorite cookies in it. This cookie company had just gone out of business and our friend had one last cookie so he was saving it. When no one was looking, our dog Smoochee went into his bag, took the cookie and ate it. She was very happy but our friend, not so much. Good thing our friend likes dogs. 😠
Yesterday we had to leave the area for 3 hours to do business in Oviedo and we had a good chuckle when we returned and found this note on the door of our coach. The Millennium employees have a good sense of humor.
We will leave here tomorrow, but we still have several more days in Florida as we head west to the Panhandle. When Interstate 10 crosses the Apalachicola River about 40 miles west of Tallahassee we will be in the Central time zone.
Oh, this post made me laugh again and again. That certainly wasn’t a “premier” lot! Was there any spot that wasn’t cracked? And the pickleball courts sure needed a wash. It’s funny how you never know what you’ll get sometimes. The internet “stretches the truth” some times. And your next stop looked like a nicer park, but the music until 2 in the morning! Yikes! I love your “note to self” comments! And the cookie story was hysterical… well maybe not for your friend, but I’m sure he can laugh about it now. Your blogs are so interesting and funny… love the pictures, and it’s fun to read them. I think I might have missed one… I’ll have to look because they are so fun to read, I don’t want to miss any. Be safe, you two… see you in a couple weeks
