Stop # 7 was in Paso Robles at Cava Robles Resort. I rated the place a 9 when we got there but about a 7 by the time we left.
This is a massive resort with over 80 acres and 332 lots. 300 of the lots are for RV’s and the other 32 have quaint rental cabins on them. This park has several pools, a gym, a bistro just to name a few but the unique part for us was the walking trails in the woods. It was so peaceful and serene with nice views the first 2 days of our stay but then a large amount of families with small kids arrived and they surrounded our rental lot. They were up all night outside partying until at least 11:30 pm with music blasting and lots of loud talking. It felt like we were back at kids camp again.
The walking trail around the park.

There were 5 really nice pickleball courts and nice people at the Paso Robles Pickleball courts. This is the first and only place where we had to sign a waiver before we played.
Two most amazing restaurants in Paso that we highly recommend. Buono Tavola is a small northern Italian eatery where everything was freshly made including the bread, tapenade, dressings etc. This place books up fast but they have a few seats at the bar for walk ins which we were lucky enough to grab.
The second place is Chart and the food may have been even better than Buono. Both places deserve a 10 star rating for the food. At Chart, the 3 chefs cook all the meals right in front of you and like Buono Tavola, every thing was amazingly fresh.
We only had time for one winery and we chose Sculpterra Winery and Sculpture Garden. This place was just amazingly beautiful. Well worth a stop. The gardens outside have beautiful sculptures and you can also walk a trail where the wine grapes are growing.
Sculpterra also has wine tasting inside and Darren our wine server showed us this hand painted bottle that sells for $250 and is designed so this it can be placed upright on its side. We did not try the wine or buy the bottle but it was a really beautiful piece of art.
Just a few of the unique sculptures. I would love one for our house.
And a lot of interesting history to read about making wine.
Our next stop which was stop # 8 was at Valencia Travel Village in Castaic. I would rate it about a 6. It is a good clean place for a stop over but this park had mostly permanent residents with families living here. At least they were very quiet, unlike the last place.
The purpose of this stay was to visit the Ronald Reagan Library nearby in Simi Valley. A very impressive library indeed. This 100 acre site library which was completed in 1991 is perched on a mountaintop with beautiful views of the mountains, valleys and ocean.
It was fun to be able to go onto Air Force One as well as see a replica of the Oval Office. There was also a replica of the Rose Garden and a piece of the Berlin Wall which was brought from Germany.
We try to see the presidential libraries whenever possible. Our first was Lyndon Johnsons in Austin Texas, then George W Bush in Dallas Texas. Then we went to the Clinton library in Little Rock, Arkansas but they would not let us in due to covid however we did walk the beautiful grounds there.
Below is a Hologram of the 40th president seen in the library.

Gary running for office? Take note of some important people there behind him.
Our next stop (#9) was supposed to be in Las Vegas Nevada before heading to Mesa Arizona for Gary’s moms memorial service, however since it is on the way we have decided to take a quick stop in Indio to check on our new home instead.

Thank you for sharing your trip with us! I am taking notes for our future travel plans. You know how we love pickleball, so a cabin at Paso Robles might be fun. Hopefully, we’d have a quieter visit. ๐
