A pleasant 9 days in the state of Vermont where we used to live. It will be 4 years in November since we sold our house after 33 years.
We stayed in Morrisville at the Mountain View Campground. A nice small clean park next to the Lamoille River owned by a young couple that do a lot to help the local animal shelter nearby where Aussie was adopted.
At the park they rent kayaks and river tubes for river rafting.
The first few days the temps were in the 90s with 90% humidity and rain most evenings.
Aussies daily trip to the river. We took her to the vet we used to have here and he agreed that she has a torn ACL and needs surgery on that back leg asap.
Several times we passed by the shelter where Aussie was adopted 4 years ago
It was so nice to see a few of our awesome friends that we have missed.
Is it time to sell Oregon and move back east for the summer months? I am not so sure about that. I already have a few mosquito bites. Something you don’t get in the Oregon desert.
An almost unheard of situation in downtown Stowe. The men shoe shopping while the women watched.
Survivors of the great flooding in Montpelier during the summer of 2023.
A tour of the great renovation made in the old historic school house (now home) from the 1800’s.
Aussie really missed walking the Quiet Path with her good friend Killi. Such a beautiful walking path.
We played pickleball a few times at Memorial Park in the brutal heat. It was so good to see some old friends there. These courts are the worst we have ever seen anywhere in the country but a nice bunch of people always show up to play there.
Like Aussie, poor Aston (the dog below) also has a torn ACL and is having surgery in a few weeks.
The gorgeous evening sky from the patio at our friends house way up the hill. It will be a magnificent view when the leaves begin to change color in a few weeks.
Finally a calm evening for cocktails outside. One of the very few evenings with no rain.
Good friends that we have known for for over 40 years taking the bus tour.
Times have certainly changed since the last time we saw them….
One evening we enjoyed a wonderful home cooked meal with friends starting with a Waldorf salad made with the apples from the tree outside their house where a bear was seen roaming.
Thank you to our friends below for bringing the lovely wild flowers from your garden.
Some dear friends below that we have traveled with in years past to Barcelona Spain, Puglia Italy, Jackson Hole Wy, Big Sky Mt, Carlsbad Ca, Saratoga NY, just to name a few.
To our friends below, thanks for stopping by and bringing your freshly baked bread! So delicious!
More rain showers today as we pack up and prepare for our next stop in New Hampshire tomorrow. This time we will park on a friends driveway. Will we fit? Stay tuned to find out.
For those of you we missed seeing while we were here, we are sorry we did not get the chance & we hope to catch you the next time.
I got lucky in Costco!! I fly back to California next Saturday (9/23/ hope to see you back in CA! Enjoy the rest of your trip!!! Sandy
It was so nice spending time with you both, we miss you! I vote yes for moving east for summers! We are thinking of you. May this New Year be filled with laughter, kindness and health.
Great accounting of your days in Vermont – I know there are more to come still! You packed in a lot in these few days. thanks for making time to see us! Loved our catch-up & reminiscing & thinking of future plans! An excellent blog with lots of photos, & cartoons, & commentary. takes time! Well done. Until the next one! Hugs to you both, from Marvin & Jean Shana tova
Wow! What beautiful pictures and reminiscing of places and friends you haven’t seen for a few years. I’ll bet it was good to see everyone, including Aussie’s doggie friends. I saw your line, “Is it time to sell Oregon and move back east for the summer months?” I’m sure that’s tempting! However, Jim and I would love to have you spend summers with us in Northern Arizona 😍 (We’re going to look in Flagstaff this upcoming week… just so darn windy in Show Low!)
Enjoy your continuing travels.. oh! I see another post from you… guess I’m a little behind. Be safe!
