Thursday I went to the local animal shelter, North Country Animal League because they asked me to sell some of their fundraising raffle tickets.
Of course, you cannot go the shelter without looking at the dogs and cats.
A truck of dogs had just come in from North Carolina from a kill shelter and here is what I saw.
Well needless to say, I had to take her out and walk her and play with her. I stayed until closing at the shelter so that no one else could meet her. She was so sweet and calm. I went home and filled out an application on line. First thing Friday morning we got the call that we had been approved.
Sunday we took her out in the woods on a hike with our friends and their dogs and she was in seventh heaven.
We think she is part Australian Shepherd and part Collie.
Let’s hope you like the RV life too Aussie.
By the way, I picked up the raffle tickets for the Cause For Paws fundraiser and will be selling them until September. Tickets are $100 each and the first prize is $10,000, second prize, $2,500 and third prize $1,000. The drawing will be in Stowe at Idletyme on Sept 25th, 2019 at 6:45pm and you do not need to be there to win.
NCAL is an incredible shelter. I was on the board there for 2 full years. To date, North Country Animal League has taken in, cared for, and found homes for over 11,000 homeless animals. Connecting humans with animals is what they do best – whether it be through adoptions, education and outreach, or volunteer opportunities.
